On Tuesday 25th September, we were delighted to welcome HRH The Duke of Kent to the tannery to present our Queen’s Award for Enterprise, in recognition of our increasing success in export and international trade.
Alistair Brearley, Managing Director, explained “We are absolutely delighted. Our success can be attributed to the hard work, dedication and continued support from all of our staff, customers, suppliers and overseas agents.”
Commenting on the award, Barry Knight, Sales Development Manager, said “We have worked extremely hard at developing the overseas markets and enjoyed – not just great success – but have developed a number of wonderful, strong relationships along the journey! This is only the start of things to come, we have many more leathers to develop and new markets to explore.”
Accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Bristol, Mrs Peaches Golding, and Bristol’s Ceremonial Lord Mayor, Cllr Cleo Lake, HRH The Duke of Kent was shown round the tannery before presenting the Award to Alistair on behalf of Thomas Ware and Sons. The tannery workforce and directors then enjoyed a celebratory buffet lunch and a celebratory tipple after work finished for the day.
